I am such a huge fan of neutral wardrobe items. You’ll occasionally see me wearing a pop of color or even more rarely a print (with the exception of my H&M leopard print button down that I can’t stop wearing), but for the most part I live in cream, grays, and black. Having a variety of neutral basics at your disposal allows for easy mixing and matching, making getting dressed a breeze. There are a few pieces that are key to looking put together throughout the winter season.
Coats
In Baltimore we’ve been lucky enough to have a mild winter this year. I’m happy to spend less time in a parka than usual! Aside from a toasty warm parka for those bitterly cold days, my coat recommendation would be a wool blend in camel, black, or gray. My camel coat is from Zara, and my black coat is from Uniqlo. I love that my black coat is a wrap coat…I feel like I’m wearing a chic bathrobe! It does, however, take an additional 10 minutes to get ready when I wear that coat after factoring in the time it takes to lint roll all of the dog and cat hair off it…ugh. Pet parent problems.

Denim/Pants
I recently took a chance on paper bag waist pants and I’m so glad I did! Since I go into the office everyday and it’s nice to have a dressier alternative to denim. I got a pair in black and one in cream, which will open up lots of outfit opportunities. My denim collection isn’t extensive. I’ve been grabbing mom jeans and black skinnies most lately.

Knits
Knits are the quintessential winter wardrobe item. And oh, how I love them! My favorites are chunky and oversized. I would recommend a grey, camel, cream or white, and a black sweater that can be easily paired with denim or pants for a sharp look. I tend to stick with crew-neck or turtleneck sweaters in the winter months. Finding sweaters with a unique detail like ribbing adds some flair and interest.

Shoes
Boots are definitely my go to in the winter season. I wrote an entire post on my favorite boot styles, but I also want to add some other favorites to the list. My Sam Edelman loafers and my black high-top converses make a great addition to any outfit and are excellent boot alternatives on days that aren’t super cold and wet. I also snuck in a pair of lace up boots also by Sam Edelman that I am loving at the moment.
