Hello, everyone! How are you handling the weather transition? Yesterday it was 25 degrees when I woke up, so its beginning to get really chilly here in Baltimore. I took these photos on a day when the weather was reasonably warm, which is why I’m not wearing a coat or socks. However, I am wearing a turtleneck, which is my absolute favorite thing to wear in the colder months. I swear that extra 3 inches of covering on the neck does so much to keep me warm!
As I mentioned in this post, I am trying to be a lot more conscientious when shopping for wardrobe items. Primarily because I want to invest in pieces that will last me a while, but also because I am in a career transition, and am not really in a place to spend a lot of money on clothes. Being selective and conscious of the cost of items is a challenge, but one that I’m having fun with. For example, I’m really wanting to buy a new winter coat in either black or gray (more than likely gray because of the inescapable amount of white pet hair in my life). Instead of buying something now at full price, I’m bookmarking what I like on my favorite sites and will wait to purchase until Black Friday when there will surely be a sale.
I am also getting back into searching the thrift stores for staple pieces. Years ago I regularly thrifted, but for whatever reason stopped and focused my time on shopping at high street stores. One afternoon a few weeks ago I found this black blazer at Savers…and it was only $7! What a steal, right?! It is honestly perfect in every way. Oversized, a nice length, and double breasted…so good! I knew as soon as I tried it on that I would get so much wear out of it. Before finding this blazer, I was prepared to spend so much more for one. Even though this was the only item I walked away with after hours of searching, I am okay with that.
What are your tips for finding affordable wardrobe staples? Are you a fan of thrift shopping?
XOXO, Persia
